Cardiology Ultrasound

This group project in cognitive ergonomics was about the human-machine system of a cardiologist and an ultrasound machine.

The machine enables the cardiologist to examine the patient’s heart to get vital information needed to set a diagnosis. Through an analysis based on methods such as HTA, NASA-TLX and PUEA it was seen that the machine puts a lot of strain on the mental workload of the expert using it and it fails in being intuitive.

The new interface provides more feedback and aids the user in understanding when a picture is clear enough to use. It will also help the cardiologist with his or her mental checklist which today is demanding for their working memory.
